The Akadémia vzdelávania (Slovakia), a non-profit organisation, is a largest adult education establishment in Slovakia. On account of its network of 37 branches and more than 200 employees and 200o instructors it is present and operational in all regions of the country.
The AV offers a broad selection of the education measures which are recognised by the Slowakian Minstry of Schools, and these measures reach from retraining in the fields of business, firms, management, service industry and trades, and social-legal work, to languages, information technology, subject-specific seminars, careers advisory services, occupational qualifications, A-level preparatory courses, post-A-level training, managerial training, and political education, and to university degrees (in cooperation with foreign partner organisations). The AV is a member of the European Association for the Education of Adults. It is also certified as an examination centre for the European Language Certificates; in the field of management, it offers the certificate Foundation Award in Management Principles, and in the field of information technology the Xpert European Computer Passport. Every year, more than 90,000 persons participate in AV educational courses.
