The project "Identification, assessment and recognition of informally acquired competences", short IBAK, is completed. This project site www.competences.info is still open to anyone interested, although it will be no longer updated.

The identification, assessment and recognition of informally acquired skills - for us these are still hot items. Get an updated overview on methods and instruments in our IBAK database on our homepage www.heurekanet.de or news from our BMBF project "KomBiA“. We look forward to your visit.

Lithuanian Associacion of Adult Education (LAAE) is a public non-profit independent union of individuals and organisations of various types.

Aims of LAAE:

  • To invite adult educators and institutions for discussing adult education issues, for joint activities
  • To develop adults' capacities for active participation in their professional and community life
  • To develop adults' need for continuous education
  • To represent Lithuanian adult educators in the country and abroad
  • To develop learning programms for improving the andragogical and management competences of adult educators, to deliver seminars and courses for them

Pursuing those aims LAAE implements national and international projects, organises seminars, conferences, internships and other activities for its members and other adult educators. Currently LAAE has 112 individual members and 40 institutions from different areas of formal and non-formal education. Since its establishment in 1992 LAAE has been developing adult education network in Lithuania, participating in creation of the main policy documents and legal acts on education. LAAE was the initiator of adopting the Law on Non-formal Adult Education (active from 1998). According the Law on Education LAAE sends its representative to the Council of Education of Lithuania which enables to advocate the interests of adult education in education policy debates. LAAE is a member of EAEA. Together with Lithuanian Open Air Museum LAAE is the founder of folk high school "Estate Academy of Rumšišk?s Museum". Currently LAAE is involved in solving problems of evaluation and recognition of non-formally acquired competences.
